We asked the public what their go-to non alcoholic order at a bar is, and here's what we learned!

Non-Alcoholic Moscow Mule: A Perfect Substitute

One cocktail that I'd opt for when not on a drinking spree is the Non-Alcoholic Moscow Mule. Even though the cocktail does not contain any alcoholic ingredients, it does contain some sour components. On the other hand, the mules are always served in copper mugs, which makes them a good starter for any decent conversation.

Not long ago, I attended a networking event where lubricating my social skills wasn't a good strategy, so I ordered the drink on a whim again. I'd say there are some preparations in my opinion since the drink does taste good. Ginger and lime complement each other perfectly, and the addition of soda gives it a nice fizz. Along with it, there is some good garnish so it doesn't appear as if they are trying to cover something up. Mine had a lime wedge along with mint sprigs, making it feel royal.

For those who are skeptical about Mules or who do not drink often, I suggest the Non-Alcoholic Moscow Mule. It is a good substitute. Mules are a great drink as they do not have those hungover side effects after drinking them that would leave you regretting the night before.

Alcohol-free Red Wine: No One's Going To Know

Most mocktails are way to sweet and heavy for my taste. So my go-to is always a glass of medium bodied red wine which is thankfully getting easier and easier to find.

In Singapore, I know I can always rely on OUD and Espoir to have some good non-alc reds in stock.

Virgin Mojito: Refreshing and Flavorful

My go-to non-alcoholic drink to order at a bar is a mocktail—specifically, a Virgin Mojito. What I love about it is the balance of refreshing mint, citrusy lime, and just the right amount of sweetness. It's the perfect drink to enjoy when I want something flavorful and satisfying but without the alcohol. The combination of fresh ingredients and the crisp, clean taste makes it feel like a real treat, even though it's alcohol-free. Plus, the fizziness from club soda adds an extra level of refreshment, making it a perfect drink whether I'm out in the sun or just looking for something to sip on during a night out.

What really makes it stand out is that it's an excellent choice for anyone who wants to avoid alcohol but still participate in the social aspect of drinking. It's refreshing without being too heavy, and the taste is interesting enough to keep you engaged throughout the evening. When I'm at a bar with friends who are drinking, I've found that opting for a mocktail doesn't make me feel left out, and it's great to have something to hold and enjoy in the same way.

I'd recommend the Virgin Mojito to anyone who's looking for a non-alcoholic option that still delivers a full-flavored, satisfying experience. It's a great way to stay hydrated and refreshed while socializing, and it doesn't compromise on taste, which is often the issue with some non-alcoholic drinks. Whether you're trying to cut back on alcohol, stay sober for the night, or just enjoy a different kind of drink, it's a great option that works in almost any setting.

Mocktails: Citrus-Based and Satisfying

My go-to non-alcoholic drink at a bar is a well-made mocktail, often something citrus-based like a Virgin Mojito or a mix of ginger beer and lime. I love the Virgin Mojito because it's refreshing, not overly sweet, and has a great balance of minty and zesty flavors. It's perfect for keeping the social vibe alive without the buzz. For something with a bit more kick, ginger beer and lime deliver a spicy, tangy flavor that's satisfying and feels like a "grown-up" drink. I'd recommend either option to anyone looking for something flavorful and sophisticated that feels just as celebratory as a cocktail but without the alcohol. Plus, most bars are happy to get creative with non-alcoholic requests!
